Throwback Thursday - Springfields - Nope Not the workplace of Homer Simpson the real life Springfields Nuclear Fuel Plant aka “Clean Energy Technology Park" in the village of Salwick Near Preston

Was surprised to see this on the Salwick Shufflers facebook page which an open to view site “Dedicated to all those who passed through the Salwick gates and the families and communities who supported them.” The vintage (1970’s?) photo shows the Springfields Nuclear Fuel plant in all its state of the art glory looking something like Chernobyl on steroids. There is a foreman to the right of the photo in a white coat standing nonchalantly observing a radiation/chemical suited and booted figure turning a valve in an area which looks like long abandoned dystopian nuclear/chemical plant.

The Springfields Nuclear Fuel site is now calling itself the “Clean Energy Technology Park” - astounding hubris!
