Stop Sizewell C - RALLY 7th June
Opportunities to get active - See below from Together Against Sizewell C and Stop Sizewell C …..
With just over a day to go until our Outrage Rally (see below), Together Against Sizewell C (TASC) and Stop Sizewell C are writing to share some new initiatives!
New TASC legal challenge
TASC has filed a new legal challenge to the Energy Secretary over plans for additional coastal flood defences at Sizewell C. These defences, in the form of two huge 10m high ‘overland flood barriers’, were not included in the approved DCO project. In TASC's opinion, if installed they will likely have additional adverse impacts on the neighbouring designated wildlife sites including RSPB Minsmere as well as the Heritage Coast and Suffolk Coast & Heaths National Landscape. You can read the press release issued by their lawyers, Leigh Day, here. TASC tried to get this matter resolved without taking legal action but it has proved impossible.
TASC has launched a CrowdJustice fundraising page which explains the case in more detail, and would be very grateful for any support you can give towards achieving their fundraising target.
Stop Sizewell C projection
Late last night Stop Sizewell C projected a video message onto Sizewell B's dome in advance of the Spending Review. The key messages were that Sizewell C is a Nuclear Waste of Money; £40 billion badly spent. We suggested a series of alternative ways this money could be spent that would generate or save energy - such as Offshore Wind and Warm Homes - as well as being used to reverse some of the government's most unpopular cuts to social funding, such as Winter Fuel and Disability payments. We hope the PM is listening! Watch by clicking the video below the Outrage banner below, or by visiting

Sizewell C "Outrage" Rally this Saturday, 7 June
Please join us this Saturday if you possibly can! Full details here: www.stopsizewellc.org/outrage.
The Rally will run from 11am to around 12.15pm, following which we hope everyone who can will walk up the beach to the Sizewell C site. We have a range of speakers, including Jonathon Porritt and Simon Barnes, interspersed with music from Peter Kirtley and Nonny Denny, and we will also pay tribute to Pete Wilkinson. We are working with the police to ensure a safe event for all.
Key details:
Gather from 10.30am, just south of the main beach access by Sizewell Tea.
Rally starts at 11 and runs until about 12.15.
You are encouraged to bring flags, banners and placards, but we will also have some.
If you are able to walk up the beach to the Sizewell C site after the rally we would be grateful.
Parking at the beach (IP16 4UH) is FREE but space limited so please carshare or cycle if possible. (Best not to arrive too early as we don't wish to get in the way of ParkRun, 9-10amish.)
If you are travelling from further afield, a FREE bus will meet the trains arriving at Saxmundham just before 10am, and return to the station in time for the trains departing just before 2pm, but you do need to book a seat. See details below and email info@stopsizewellc.org to book.
Once again, full details can be found here: www.stopsizewellc.org/outrage.
With our thanks for your support. We hope to see lots of you on 7 June!
